User ID's / Passwords:
#-----------------------#
root / password
user / password

VDR's default video directory:
/video/

VDR's binary is installed into:
/video/

#-----------------------#
Optional configuration files and binaries are available and installed into /video/
via the following script:
#-----------------------#
'/video/unpack.sh {dp|bev|sc|plain|lirc|vfat|softcsa}'
'unpack.sh dp' - will unpack dishpro channels.conf
'unpack.sh bev' - will unpack bev channels.conf and disable diseqc usage
'unpack.sh sc' - will fetch and unpack the sc package
'unpack.sh plain' - will unpack the plain jane vdr binary
'unpack.sh lirc' - will unpack the vdr bin with lirc remote support
'unpack.sh vfat' - will unpack the vdr bin with vfat recording support
'unpack.sh softsca' - will unpack the vdr bin with the softcsa patch

#-----------------------#
The DVB drivers should automatically load via hotplug during the boot init process.
To unload/reload the dvb drivers, use the following;
#-----------------------#
'/video/dvb.sh unload'
'/video/dvb.sh load'

#-----------------------#
To launch VDR manually;
#-----------------------#
'cd /video'
'./vdr -L /video/plugins/lib -P{plugin1} -P{plugin2}'

List of plugins (some of these plugins do not make sense when run from the livecd such as
dvd, dvdselect, mplayer, mp3):
dvd, dvdselect, lcdproc, mp3, mplayer, prefermenu, remote, streamdev-server,
timeline, yaepg

#-----------------------#
To use the Nexus IR remote, you need to specify the Remote plugin on your VDR command line:
#-----------------------#
'-Premote'

If your Nexus IR remote is on an input event interface other than Remote-Event5, you will need to run through VDR's
remote learning process (which should automatically occur upon starting VDR for the first time). If you do not save
your vdr configuration files to a hard drive or USB memory stick, you will need to repeat this each time you boot
from your VDR LiveCD.

*Notice, you must have a TV connected to your Nexus (full featured DVB-S card). TV video will NOT appear on your
*monitor!

#-----------------------#
To launch VDR with a script; edit '/video/startvdr.sh' with your plugins of choice;
#-----------------------#
Edit the start script to suit;
'nano -w /video/startvdr.sh'
Then launch vdr with;
'/video/startvdr.sh'

#-----------------------#
To launch VDR as a service in daemon mode; edit '/etc/init.d/vdrd';
#-----------------------#
Edit the service script to suit;
'nano -w /etc/init.d/vdrd'
Then start with;
'/etc/init.d/vdrd start'

To stop VDR running as a service;
'/etc/init.d/vdrd stop'

If you stop VDR from within VDR, you need to reset the vdrd service before restarting;
'/etc/init.d/vdrd zap'

#-----------------------#
If using lirc, you will need to download or generate your own /etc/lircd.conf for your remote then
restart lirc with (then you should remove the lirc entries in /video/remote.conf so vdr will relearn
when launched):
#-----------------------#
'/etc/init.d/lircd restart'

If you already have a linux partition (ext2/3, reiserfs), you can mount it to /video/mnt (or any directory you create in /video/mnt):
'mount -t {fs type} /dev/hd{a/b/c/d}{partition #} /video/mnt'

Example 'mount -t reiserfs /dev/hda3 /video/mnt'

'fdisk -l /dev/hd{a/b/c/d}' ie 'fdisk -l /dev/hda' should list all the partitions on /dev/hda

Here's an example scenario where I have /dev/hda4 with ext3 which contains an existing VDR /video directory for conf files and recordings:
'mount -t ext3 /dev/hda4 /video/mnt'
'./vdr -Psc -Pyaepg -v /video/mnt/video'

If you choose not to use a hard drive or NFS/Samba mount (network drive) for persistent storage
(vdr conf files), I would strongly recommend using a USB memory stick (BestBuy
had a PNY 256MB for $24 this week).

The version of the NA VDR LiveCD will no longer automatically be mount to /ext_video/

I would strongly recommend to repartition such a memory stick to ext2 but should
work with FAT32 (yuk)
